Kaduna State governor, Mallan Nasir El-Rufai has used the life of late Robert Mugabe as warning to African leaders.
in a tweet he shared, El-Rufai stated that African leaders who fail to leave when the ovation is loud might end tragically like Mugabe.
”May Robert Mugabe’s soul Rest in Peace. He started very well, stayed too long and ended tragically. An African hero all the same and a leader that honestly meant well. His life is a lesson for all in public leadership roles – groom successors and leave when ovation is still loud!”, he tweeted.
Former President of Zimbabwe, Robert is said to have died at the early hours of Friday at age 95.
Mugabe is the longest serving president of Zimbabwe. In 2017, he was forced to resign after his party had internal crisis.
Confirming the news, Zimbabwean president, Emerson Mnangwaga tweeted:
“It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe
“Cde Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people.
“His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
