The residence of the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has been raided by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday.
EFCC spokesman Tony Orilade told The Guardian that the raid was in connection with an ongoing investigation into finances of Lagos State under the former governor.
“It is just the continuation of the ongoing investigation,” Orilade said.
This is coming about a week after Ambode reacted to a statement credited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which alleges to have frozen accounts containing N9.9billion traced to him.
Reacting to the statement, Ambode stated that he doesn’t have any account with such amount in it and that none of his accounts have been frozen.
Via a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Habib Aruna, Ambode stated that there has been no communication between him and EFCC and he believes the said statement attributed to them was misleading. Read statement HERE.
