We don’t regard Tinubu as one of Yoruba defenders – Afenifere

The Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere has stated that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu cannot be regarded as a defender of the Yoruba nation due to his recent utterances on the issue of killer herdsmen.

This was in reaction to a statement by Tinubu during a condolence visit to Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, whose daughter, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, was murdered recently.

Afenifere National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin stated that Tinubu has been silent over the issue of herdsmen because he’s one of their supporters.

According to him, the statement made by Tinubu during his visit to Pa Fasoranti shows that he’s sympathetic to their course.

“He is their supporter. In October last year in Abuja , he was the first person to advocate Ruga that all unused lands in Nigeria should be given to herdsmen. Today in Akure, he went to ‘mourn’ with Pa Fasoranti and when he finished, he was speaking as if he went there to dance on the grave of the deceased when he said people should stop categorising kidnappers as herdsmen”.

“That herdsmen are not the ones that started kidnapping. Is Evans a Fulani herdsmen? So, he went to pour salt upon injury. So, we cannot count him among our defenders in Yorubaland” he said.
