The Senator representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly, Elisha Abbo, has pleaded not guilty after he was arraigned on one count of assault.
Abbo was arraigned on Monday by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police at Zuba Magistrate Court, Abuja
The video of the Senator assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja went viral, attracting a public outrage in condemnation of the act.
Following the public outcry, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT, CP Bala Ciroma to investigate the matter.
The investigation led to the invitation of the Senator to the Command, which further led to his detention on Thursday.
He was however released on Friday afternoon after meeting the bail conditions.
