Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has stated that Yorubas will continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was after he and some leaders of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere met with President Buhari in Aso Villa on Tuesday.
Some of the leaders at the meeting include Mutiu Are, Yemi Alade, Solomon Akindele Chief Segun Osoba, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye, Chief Kemi Nelson, Laoye Tomori etc
Speaking at the meeting, Tinubu said:
“Nigerians should be united and avoid conflicts in order to ensure speedy development and progress of the country.
“The Yorubas will continue to rally behind Buhari because of his track record and good will for Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
He also advised the president on how the issue of insecurity in Nigeria can be tackled.
The first step on the security of the country is to really see a way to stem any speech of hate; intolerance across the nation and look at the problem of security holistically and from the grassroots level.
“This includes the fact there is a shortage of police personnel and there is the need to look at the recruitment from 774 Local Governments and be able to effectively have information.
“It takes time to train people; you equally create employment from such an action, I mean employment for the people and strengthen security intelligence from the grassroots,’’ he said.
