Two storey building collapses in Warri

A two storey building which was still under construction has collapsed at Marine Axis quarters in Warren, Delta State.

The collapse which claimed no life affected two quarters close-by. Sources claim the reason why no life was lost is because the labourers who were working on the site suspended work as a result of the constant rains experienced in the last few days in the area.

According to a source, the owner of the house, who was out of town, had refused to engage the services of professionals for the building. The source stated that “he’s both the engineer and the labourer”

The Chairman of Marine Quarters, Mr. Olusegun Awodeyi, revealed how residents warned the owner of the house on how his building is not firm enough due to the use of “substandard materials”.
