Senate President Ahmad Lawan has clarified reports which stated that he suggested that power should be shifted to the Southwest in 2023.
In a series of tweets, the senate president clarified that the statement was indeed made but not by him.
He revealed that the statement which many have accredited to him wasn’t made by him but by someone else who incidentally bears the same name as his.
Ahmad Lawan tweeted:
“My attention has been drawn to a statement circulating on various media platforms credited to me as saying that power must shift to the South West in 2023. This is a misrepresentation of fact and identity.
“The statement is said to have been made by the Secretary of Adamawa State APC, Ahmed Lawan, who incidentally bears similar name with me. The public should please take note”.
Ahmad Lawan was sworn-in as senate president on June 11 when the 9th senate was inaugurated. He defeated his closest rival Senator Ali Ndume to clinch the seat and is deputized by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
