Jose Mourinho appears to be getting set to take over at Newcastle United as manager Rafa Benitez prepares to leave at the end of his contract which expires June 30.
Rafa Benitez exit was announced on Newcastle’s official website via a statement which reads:
“It is with disappointment that we announce manager Rafael Benitez will leave Newcastle United upon the expiry of his contract on 30th June 2019.
“We have worked hard to extend Rafa’s contract over a significant period of time, however, it has not been – and will not be – possible to reach an agreement with Rafa and his representatives.
“Rafa’s coaching staff, Paco de Miguel Moreno, Antonio Gomez Perez and Mikel Antia, will also leave the club on 30th June.”
Recently, Jose Mourinho heightened speculations about joining Newcastle when he expressed his love for the club.
“I like to go there. I like the feeling of going to Mr Robson’s home. I like that feeling.
“I like the stadium. I like the atmosphere. They are a go”.
