The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have stated that they will hold a meeting on Tuesday to deliberate on orders from various Courts in regards to issuing Certificates of Return.
This was made known in Abuja o Monday by Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.
He made this known in reaction to questions about INEC’s stand after a court ordered it to issue Certificates of Return to 5 House of Representatives members plus a senator under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bauchi State.
Also in the same situation is the immediate past governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha, who got victory after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered INEC to issue gin his certificate of return.
In response, Okoye said INEC is yet to take a decision but will be meeting tomorrow on the matter.
“The Commission will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) regarding judgments and orders served on it from various Courts of Law.
“The Commission has not taken any decision relating to the matter you alluded to.
“The Commission may deal with all such issues and other pending ones tomorrow.
“National commissioners supervising State Level Review of the 2019 Elections returned to Abuja on Monday to clear all pending judgments and orders before heading back to their states of supervision,” Okoye said.
