President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that senate president Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the house of assembly, Yakubu Dogara, both hurt the entire country when they chose to delay the 2019 budget for 7 months.
This was made known via a tweet from the official handle of the Nigeria President.
According to President Buhari, he rates Saraki and Dogara low when it comes to patriotism.
President @MBuhari on the 7 months it took to pass the 2018 budget: “I asked Saraki and Dogara, how do they feel holding the budget to ransom, for seven months. It’s not me they’re hurting, it’s the entire country. In terms of patriotism I rated them very low.”
The 2019 Budget was signed into Law at the State House, 27th May 2019. Present are VP Yemi Osinbajo, Bukola Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, among others.
The President originally proposed a total expenditure of N8.83 trillion to the National Assembly for appropriation.
The Bill passed by NASS 2019 and signed into Law today provides for a total of N8.92 trillion, an increase of N90.33 billion over the original submission.
