Director of the 90’s hit movie, Boyz N The Hood, John Singleton has died at the 51. This was confirmed by his family who said he suffered a major stroke before passing away.
The movie director was announced dead after he was taken off life support at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
“Itis with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off of life support today,” a spokesperson for the family said in a statement to Deadline.
“This was an agonising decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors.”
Boyz N The Hood was released in 1991 and instantly became a major hit as it portrayed the decay caused by drugs and gang violence in America. The movie produced new stars like Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr, and Immediately made John Singleton one of the most prospective black American movie directors.
