Three men have been arraigned before a magistrates court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on one count of unlawful possession of sanitary pads.
The suspects, Hamzat Ademola (30), Kayode Kazeem (28) and Obasanmi Sola (30) are said to have committed the crime on January 31 in Ado-Ekiti.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the sanitary pads which were found in the suspects’ possession had been taken for ritual purposes.
According to Okunade, the offence contravened Section 210(f) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor later asked for an adjournment during which time he would be able to study the case file further while assembling the necessary witnesses.
The defendants were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum by the presiding Magistrate, Mr. Adesoji Adegboye.
He later adjourned the case until March 22 for hearing.
