The first edition of Chinua Achebe’s bestselling novel, “Things for apart” has reportedly been sold for N1 million.
According to the report, the whooping sale took place on Twitter after Lola Shoneyin, revealed that the vintage copy was available for sale to collectors who might be interested.
Renowned for her book, ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’, Lola tweeted about the sale via her Twitter page @lolashoneyin on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
She tweeted, “Hey book collectors! My friend is selling the first print, first edition copy of ‘Things Fall Apart’ for N1m. Reply here and she will contact you.”
Hours after Twitter users who are fans of Achebe’s novel, commenced bidding, Lola announced that the book had been purchased by a buyer who wished to be anonymous.
Chinua Achebe was a novelist, poet, professor, and critic.
‘Things Fall Apart’, which was Achebe’s first novel, won him the “Man Booker” International Prize in 2007 and is often considered his best work.
He died at the ripe old age of 83, on March 21, 2013.
