32-yr-old man in police net for allegedly infecting 16-yr-old boy with HIV, leading gay gang

Officers of the Lagos state police command have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly infecting a teenage boy with HIV and leading an alleged gay group.

The suspect identified as Prince Chinecherem, was arrested along with the teenager he reportedly infected with aids for being a part of the alleged gay gang in Lekki.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal, while parading the suspects, said Chinecherem had been using the teenager as a gay sex worker.

He added that both of the suspects had tested positive to HIV, indicating that their clients must have contracted the disease from them.

Edgal also revealed that two prominent pastors, as well as some top business executives, have been declared wanted by the police for soliciting the teenager’s services.

Chinecherem reportedly gave up the names of other members of the group during his interrogation

Throwing light on Chinecherem and the teenager’s arrest, Mr Edgal disclosed to journalists that suspicion had been aroused after a teenager was seen sneaking out of Chinecherem’s home at Ejigbo, on January 22, 2019.

Upon being questioned by suspicious neighbours, it was clear that the teenager was unable to explain his suspicious behaviour.

After being asked to open his bag, used condom with semen in it was found in it, after which the case was immediately reported to the police.

“At this point, the boy revealed that Prince Chinecherem was his lover. The matter was immediately reported to the Police at Ejigbo and the said Prince Chinecherem was arrested for interrogation.

“After a preliminary investigation, the matter was called for further enquiry by the Gender Section of the Command.

“Both the suspects and the survivor were taken for medical examination and the result revealed that the survivor has long been introduced to homosexual act. The worst is that both of them are infected with HIV virus which causes AIDS.”

Edgal disclosed that the suspects would be charged to Sexual and Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, adding that the teenager had been sent to see health counsellors in a bid to manage the situation.
