The Kano State Hisbah board has rounded up and destroyed over 60, 000 bottles of beer in the state.
The purging was done during a visit by the executive chairman of Gwale Local Government area, HON. Dakta Khalid Ishak.
Instablog9ja reports that the action one carried out in accordance with the State Law No. 4 of 2004, which prohibits the manufacturing and consumption of intoxicants in the state.
The event is seen as a major victory for the Hisbah board.
As you may already know, The Kano State Hisbah corps is a religious police force responsible for the enforcement of Sharia within the state.
However, the Hisbah Corps do not have the power to carry out attests and their officers are only armed with non-lethal, self defense weapons like batons.
They are also expected to observe and report violations to the Nigerian Police Force.
