In case you missed it, here is today’s summary of the major headlines that trended on Kemi Filani News yesterday, January 12, 2019.

1. FG files corruption charges against the Chief Justice of Nigeria. Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen will be arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Monday over alleged non-declaration of assets.

2. Tanker explosion in Cross River leaves many dead. 

The incident occurred at a bend close to the Odukpani local government secretariat.

It was gathered the petrol tanker fell while trying to negotiate the bend with residents rushing to the scene to scoop petrol.

Eyewitnesses reported the clamour for petrol resulted into a spark as some of the residents used metal containers to scoop the product.

3. America’s Got Talent (AGT) finalist and survivor of the 2005 Sosoliso airline crash, Kechi Okwuchi has undergone another surgery nearly 15 years after surviving burns from the crash.

4. Four untrained, young men have displayed heroism by mobilizing to save three children who were trapped in a burning building in the Nnewi area of Anambra state.

5. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the offers made to it early this week by the Nigerian government and has continued its ongoing strike.

6. Veteran Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji who is known to be a producer and director has been confirmed to be Nollywood’s first billionaire after her recently released movie “Lionheart” was sold to movie site, Netflix at N1,385,100,000($3.8 million).

8. Senator Dino Melaye reportedly passed the night on the floor outside the building housing the Department of State Security Services (DSS) medical facility in Abuja.
