The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, has been pushed back due to Ramadan. This year’s edition holding in Egypt was pushed back six days to allow Muslims rest and recover from the one month fasting period.
The competition slated for June 15 will now kick off on June 21.
The delay was approved by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, after a group of North African countries made a request for such.
Some African stars to feature in the tornament are Muslims: Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Ahmed Musa etc
This is the first time the tournament will be held between June and July and also the first time it will be seeing 24 teams from the usual 16.
