Breaking: Judgment passed on OAU ‘sex-for-marks’ lecturer, Richard Akindele

Prof. Richard Iyiola Akindele, a former lecturer in the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, who pleaded guilty to sexual harassment charge against him has now been sentenced.

The Federal High Court in Osogbo had turned down the bail application of the former lecturer with the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife after he was remanded for demanding sex to upgrade the scores of one of his students, Monica Osagie.

The prosecutor, Shogunle Adenekan told the court that all parties involved in the matter have reached plea bargain.

He then asked the court for a suspended sentence for the lecturer.

At the previous hearing, Richard Iyiola Akindele was denied bail and was accused of making incantation while making his report with the prosecutor.

Recall that it was alleged that the embattled professor was caught on tape chanting incantations to derail the case. It was further reported that the prosecutor alleged that Akindele was also involved in child pornography.

Akindele had earlier changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty.’
