A total of 2, 100 police personnel have been deployed for special patrol in Plateau state to ensure a hitch-free celebration of Eid-El-Maulud.
Police Public Relations Officers in Plateau state, DSP Terna Tyopev, disclosed this in a public statement on Monday in Jos, adding that a hitch-free celebration must be recorded in this year’s festivities
According to him, the deployment was to avert any break down of law and order and provide an environment conducive for the celebration.
It was gathered that that the deployed personnel comprise of 121 senior officers, 387 Inspectors, 1,520 Rank and File and 72 Traffic Wardens who would pay the price and sacrifice their own celebration to maintain peace and order within the state.
DSP Terna Tyopev revealed that this became necessary because protection of lives and property through effective vehicular and foot patrols during the period is the utmost concer of the Platead State Police Command ,’’
He said that the command had placed a ban on any form of procession and use of fireworks during the celebration, adding that anyone caught would be made to face the law.
Tyopev advised members of the public to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement within their vicinities to security agencies.
He also advised vehicle owners to take stringent measures in protecting their vehicles against theft.
