Today, 27th October, 2018 is Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh’s 62nd posthumous birthday and Google is celebrating her with a Doodle.
Dr Stella Adadevoh is the Nigerian heroine who curbed the spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria in 2014 by placing Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyerr in quarantine despite his resistance and pressures from the Liberian government.
This singular move saved million of lives, especially Lagosians, as Dr Adadevoh actively prevented Sawyerr from leaving First Consultant Hospital to attend a business conference in Calabar.
Dr Adadevoh and other staff were infected with the Ebola virus and she passed away while in quarantine on August 19, 2014.
A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage that is used in celebrating holidays, events, achievements and people.
