Chelsea player, Eden Hazard is likely going to determine whether Real Madrid signs Antonio Conte as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement.
Lopetegui was sacked yesterday on the hills of a Real Madrid 5-1 defeat to Barcelona. Conte has since been tipped as his replacement.
However, Eden Hazard, a long time target of the Spanish Giants stands in the way of the club signing Conte as new manager.
Hazard and Conte’s relationship ended badly when Conte was manager at Chelsea. It became obvious after the Fa cup final when Hazard essentially admitted he wanted Conte gone and that the club should sign a new group of players.
When asked about his future he said: “I will see what happens next season – if we have a new manager, if we bring new players. It’s not just about one thing.
“I’ll just take my time. We have the World Cup, which is important, so we’ll see.”
Their relationship started off well as Chelsea won the Premier League in the first season of Conte in charge.
Things however became strained between them in the second year when Chelsea failed to finish in the top four leading to Conte’s sack.
With Real Madrid still interested in both men, it is certain they will have to settle for just one or work to mend their sour relationship.
