Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved has revealed how the Turin club signed world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in the summer.
Ronaldo who has failed to score in his first three league matches joined Juventus after nine glorious years at Real Madrid winning a host of accolades.
“Everything started in the head of our sporting director [Paratici],” he admitted.
“We were at home when he proposed the idea to myself and president [Andrea] Agnelli.
“We really liked the idea, we were excited and knew we were doing the right thing.
“When we heard about the release clause, we knew that we had to try to sign him.
“This was a necessary signing to go one step further after winning seven successive Scudetti.
“We will try to win the Champions League, that’s our goal.”
Ronaldo won four Uefa Champions League trophy with Real Madrid.
Juventus are waiting for their first Champions League since 1996.
