Embarking on a journey requires adequate and proper preparation. Leaving behind the needful may irk you for the rest of the journey and leave you bored. So KFB brings you 5 things you likely cannot do without while embarking on a journey. We didn’t bother including mobile phones because we know that is a constant ‘K’ for any trip.
Wristwatch
No doubt, many wear a wristwatch for sincere reasons, which is to know what the time says. Some put it on for fashion, to look cool, collected and complete. Others wear it to show off, at least to show that they are using what is in vogue. Whatever category you belong, you would definitely find it uneasy midway the journey when you suddenly discover you forgot your watch at home.
Books
I understand that reading books while embarking on a journey is a no-no to some people, who would rather enjoy a picturesque view of places they encounter. However, there are still many who can’t do without taking at least a book with them while on a trip. Some would prefer just random books, some academic books, and quite a percentage take a religious book along with them. The ‘book readers’ are really repositories of knowledge, they can finish chapters of a whole book in a single journey (one sitting).
Earpiece/headphone
Film lovers, song scorers, sermon listeners can’t just do without taking their earpiece or headphones along with them on a journey. They are usually careful and precautious of noise and unnecessary interference. They most times turn to the next person seated to them to solicit for one when they discover they forgot theirs. These people never have any boring time and are always insouciant. The journey most times is balkanized for them – listening phase to the sleeping phase to the listening phase again.
Phone charger and power banks
We all understand the situation of power in Nigeria. Ever embarked upon a journey with your phone’s battery per cent less than average? You can be sure your phone charger is unforgettable in that case, and if you’ve got a power bank (lifesaver), it’s like a dream come true. Some possess a default car charger, which is always in their travelling bag for any journey. Most times these people target the front seat to charge their phones easily and to avoid any form of disruption. They never stop smiling should their goal of sitting on the front seat is achieved.
Transport fare
You don’t want to be stranded you know. Even Jesus Christ said we should count the cost before building a house, much less embarking on a journey. However, there are those who are damn sure to get more than their transport fare when they are to return from their trip – they know ‘something’ will drop from an uncle, auntie, or a certain ‘Egbon’ – if you have one like mine. All the same, it is advisable you always have your transport fare with you to prevent stories that touch the heart and move the mouth.
Let’s know if there are other little things you take along with you on any journey you embark upon. Hit or miss?
