Force men at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja have received tragic news following the death of a commander who was reportedly shot dead by a drunk soldier in the Nigerian Army
According to reports, the killer soldier was allegedly drunk before he shot his colleague over an argument on his alcohol habit.
The soldier was reportedly granted a break, only for him to return heavily drunk. The guard commander who was in mufti allegedly confronted him and asked him to change up for duty.
The suspect then went in, changed into his uniform, picked up his rifle, came out and shot the guard commander. On seeing what he had done, the suspect allegedly shot himself, but missed his own head and the bullet shattered his mouth.
The sad occurrence is coming just days after a soldier reportedly shot dead 2 of his colleagues in Borno State.
Although the Army later tweeted that two soldiers were killed in a case of accidental discharge on Wednesday afternoon.
“Accidental discharge kills 2 soldiers. We deeply regret to announce the death of two soldiers of 192 Battalion who lost their lives as a result of an accidental discharge during in-theatre training today,” the Army said.
The statement said a thorough inquiry would be conducted to understand the source of the fatal attack.
And it is quite sad that another incident of the same manner has just happened in Abuja.
