Falconets crash out of FIFA Under-20 world cup

Nigeria Women U-20 team lost to Spain 2-1 in the quarter-final of the 2018 FIFA Women U-20 World Cup.

Falconets who needed a 95th-minute equalizer against China to book their place against Spain couldn’t power their way past the Spaniards.

Bonmatí gave Spain the lead in the 13th minute with a cool finish after the Falconets fail to clear their lines, Spain doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time through  Guijarro who beat the offside trap to give Spain a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

The Falconets improved after the restart but the Spaniards defended doggedly and held on to victory.

Peace Effih scored a consolation goal for Nigeria in the 56th minute to reduce the deficit but it was not enough
