Heavy gridlock as trucks take over Apapa-Oshodi Expressway (Photos)

Residents of Lagos are calling on the State Government to help as trucks have taken over the 6 lanes of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.

Channels reports that motorists who ply the road are lamenting the hours spent in traffic on the road.

A resident explained leaving his office at 6:45 PM and arriving home at 2 AM.

Danfo buses are reportedly driving against traffic, taking one-way.

Residents have shared photos on social media, calling on the government to take appropriate action.

Why I declared my second term bid early – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed the reason why he announced his second term bid in April. Speaking when during a meeting with Buhari Support Group Centre (BSGC) at the presidential villa on Friday, Buhari explained that he made his ambition known very early so as to “save a lot of time and cool tempers”.

 

“I had to announce before the national executive committee (NEC) about my intention to ask for the party’s nomination for next year’s election so that we can save a lot of time and cool tempers,” he said.

“A lot of people are trying to make it a habit of being a nuisance to themselves and to many Nigerians. So when I announced my intention, I said okay let those who are serious come out and I try to make sure that the party is reorganise and consolidated so that we start from bottom to top.

2019 Elections: Police, civil defence demand N317m to feed dogs, horses

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps will need N310m to feed and administer drugs to dogs that will be deployed in states for the 2019 elections. .

According to a report by Punchng, the Nigeria Police Force will also require N7m to feed 50 horses that would be used for patrol during the elections which will take place between February 16 and March 2, 2019. .

The information is contained in the 2018 virement proposal sent to the National Assembly for the 2019 general election by Pres. Buhari. .

The total police budget for the elections stands at N30.5bn; the Office of the National Security Adviser, N4.2bn; the Department of State Services, N12.2bn; NSCDC, N3.5bn and the Nigeria Immigration Service, N2.6bn.
