The World Cup game between Egypt and Uruguay looked to be heading for the draw with the Africans showing an impressive opening to their campaign until the 89th minute. A goal from Jose Maria Gimenez shocked the Pharaohs of Egypt who did well to keep Cavani and Suarez from having much space.
The game was disappointing to a lot of fans who expected to see Mohamed Salah in the lineup. It is hoped that the Liverpool forward will feature in their next game as he watched the full match from the bench.
Salah, who after he turned 26 on Friday, injured his shoulder in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, and millions of Egyptians had been on tenterhooks to see if he would recover in time for the tournament.
The win puts Uruguay on three points in the group, while Egypt has zero points and is facing a must-win against Russia in their second match.
Russia won their game against Saudi Arabia with an emphatic 5-0 victory which puts them at the top of the group.
