President Buhari and Wife Aisha attended a dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham palace, London on the 19th of April 2018.
The president and the first lady pictured departing for the lavish dinner hosted for Heads of Government and their spouses at the Buckingham palace.
The dinner for Commonwealth leaders is said to be the first time the Queen has ever held such an event in that space, although other members of the royal family have.
The lavish dinner held just before plans to unveil the Queen’s successor. She told foreign dignitaries earlier today of her ‘sincere wish’ that they pick Prince Charles to take over as leader of the Commonwealth. Her public endorsement of her son is unprecedented as she spoke at the Commonwealth summit saying,
“It remains a great pleasure and honour to serve you as Head of the Commonwealth and to observe, with pride and satisfaction, that this is a flourishing network.
“It is my sincere wish that the Commonwealth will continue to offer stability and continuity for future generations, and will decide that one day the Prince of Wales should carry on the important work started by my father in 1949.”
There were plenty of colorful outfits, with many guests arriving in traditional dress for the dinner in the Palace’s picture gallery.
The Queen greeted dignitaries at the palace, looking regal in a long white gown and jewels but was not accompanied by Prince Philip, who is still recuperating from a hip operation.
