Nigerians are really not doing badly in diaspora and Eighteen year old Ruti Olajugbagbe, has proved it as she won The Voice UK 2018.
Ruti broke down in tears after host Emma Willis announced her as the winner, and said:
‘I wasn’t expecting this… I didn’t expect to get to the blind audition, I don’t know what to say!’
Not only did she make Nigerians proud, she won for herself the £100,000 prize money, as well as a deal with Republic Records.
Runner-up Donel Mangena who lost to Rutu was equally excited being the runner up, he congratulated Ruti, saying:
‘Thank you so much. I’ve loved every second of it. To have come runner-up, it’s amazing. Working with will.i.am has been my highlight. I’m so happy, as happy as Ruti.’
The Voice UK fans are ecstatic about her win and have congratulated her on social media. Some of the comments read:
