Nigerian rapper, Vector has reacted to a fan who tried to drag him into a tribalistic view. Vector had reacted to a news about an Igbo guy, John Ogbonna emerging the number 1 wrestler in the United World Wrestling. The rapper was excited that Nigeria was in the news for something positive and away from the stereotypes. He wrote:
”and this is one of the ways we #fight against the negative #stereotypes.
#Teslim”
However a follower @iam_nnadiekwe31 quickly drew his attention to claims that it is only the Igbos and Yorubas that put Nigeria on world map positively, while the northerners contribute nothing to the growth of the country.
He wrote:
If not Yoruba e go be igbos and other tribes, Hausa fulanis will never put Nigeria in world map internationally,
Vector who reacted to the comment wrote:
”@iam_nnadiekwe31 there is a player in #Leicester from the north who also scored against #barcelona i think so… there u go”.
The fan, @iam_nnadiekwe31 persisted:
”@vectorthaviper and there’s two player’s in Leicester city who still doing the country proud, they both from South, my message is clear, if not Yorubas its igbos and other tribes, bcs base in international merits is needed and base in Nigeria quota systems is needed that’s our country is backwards, have taken your time and watch paraolympic and see it’s only southerners representing Nigeria and winning medals , and watch within Nigerian and you see the disabled people around our begging are northerners, still check our female national teams still southerners bcs merits and quality is needed..
Nigeria is not a Nigeria when we don’t do things normally, that’s what’s tribalism, what am telling you is pure truth, put quality qualified person in Nigeria affairs irrespective of his or her tribes or religion.. And let’s see if Nigeria won’t move forward, lesson a lesson from this, merits and quality took this man this far”
Finally, Vector gave his last reply on the issue of tribalism:
”Nigeria is not a Nigeria when we don’t do things normally, that’s what’s tribalism, what am telling you is pure truth, put quality qualified person in Nigeria affairs irrespective of his or her tribes or religion.. And let’s see if Nigeria won’t move forward, lesson a lesson from this, merits and quality took this man this far”
