Statistics state that Lagos State is one of the cities in the world with highest rate of crime and to further prove them right is this recent report gathered.
Just recently, a Nigerian man identified as Babajide Orevba shared details of a robbery he witnessed in traffic which happened around Old Toll gate, just before Ketu area by the pedestrian bridge opposite Motorways in Lagos.
According to Jide, a woman’s phone was stolen at around 8:40pm on March 14, while the air was polluted with smoke from the burning huge Olusosun refuse dump which is close to the scene of the robbery.
He revealed that the robbery had happened right on the same spot where another person in the name of Chido Nwakanma had been robbed the previous week.
In his post, Orevba shared that the said lady made an attempt to recover her stolen phone by chasing after the thief but unfortunately, he outran her and left her devastated, gasping for breath.
His post which he shared on his Facebook page read :
“Terrible Lagos! It was a sad one last night around the Old Toll gate, just before Ketu by the pedestrian bridge opposite Motorways.
At about 8:40pm, I saw a guy running and shouting ‘Ole Ole Ole’, there was a very slow traffic and confusion set-in.
To make matters worse, there was this thick smoke coming from that major ‘refuse mountain’.
Moments later, I saw a lady chasing the same guy. I then discovered that the criminal had ripped-off her phone from her.
Of course, the guy disappeared as she couldn’t follow him to the unknown. It was a really sad one as she had to pull back. It was obvious she was in shock.
A couple of weeks back, Mr. Chido Nwakanma ‘s phone was snatched from him at that same spot.
Will the Lagos security officials/ police saying they do not know how to gun these criminals down?
Meanwhile, the bad smoke is still there as at this morning.
