The prevailing issue of fraudulent activities or scam and how much more sophisticated the perpetrators have become over the years is quite overwhelming.
Just recently, a Facebook user named Simeon Nsirim almost fell victim of a courier scam but escaped due to the nature of his brother’s job.
According to Nsirim, he had been chatting with a fake white lady named Emily Bradley who wanted to send him something and had gone as far as showing him a receipt for the supposed transaction.
Luckily for him, his brother works as a DHL dispatch manager and clearing agent for British Airways and that’s how the truth came out.
Simeon’s name was also printed on the receipt, making it easy for him to have fallen prey had he not been saved by his brother.
In his post, he revealed that so-called Emily refused to answer a video call and eventually, the number of the company was identified by True Caller app as belonging to an Anthonia.
He urged Nigerians to be careful n their dealings so as not to fall victim of fraudulent activities such as this one
His post read:
“Beware of 419 Yahoo boys using white women photos to dupe people on Facebook. My encounter with fake Lady Emily Bradley who has suddenly disappeared from Facebook after my messenger’s video call is a clear testimony.
My Nigerian brother, Eze Abraham with account number 3067269302 first bank is the DHL dispatch manager and also the clearing agent with British Airways. British Airways customers care caller name: Kola but true caller identity is Anthonia. Use your head in every transaction online. This is the receipt of her purported payment in my name.”
