An Urhobo woman was reportedly attacked by Fulani Herdsmen this morning on her farm in Ofunwengbe community, in Ovia South West LG of Edo State.
The woman, identified as Mama Touuai, had previously been complaining about the activities of the herdsmen on her farm. She claimed they had been destroying her farm produce. So she decided top confront them this morning when she sighted them again on her farm.
She was however attacked by the armed Fulani Herdsmen alongside her daughter. It was even reported that they made attempts to rape them. She barely escaped with her life intact and both mother and daughter are now in the hospital.
House of Reps. member, Hon. Omosede Igbinedion shared the news online alongside photos of the injured female.
“Today! This just happened in my Constituency. An Urhobo woman farming in Ofunwengbe community, in Ovia South West LG of Edo State was attacked this morning by 7.30am whilst on her farm alongside her daughter, by Fulani herdsmen.
According to the woman, the Fulani herdsmen came to her farm and met her working before she knew what was happening, the herdsmen were trying to rape her by pointing a gun at her, but for her determination and boldness, she was able to drag the gun from him.
During the process of dragging the gun, another one used her cutlass she was using to work, to cause injury to her and her child.The child has since be taken to the specialist hospital in Benin #stoptheinjustice #stoptheviolence “
