My Husband Is Very Jealous Because I Am Beautiful -16-Year-Old Housewife

A 16-year-old housewife, Fatimah Mohammed, on Tuesday asked a Karu Upper
Area Court, Abuja, to dissolve her two-year marriage to Tasiu Kasim,
over alleged brutality and failure by Kasim to provide food for the
family.

“We got married in 2015 and I have a child with my husband. But since we got married, there has been no peace in the marriage.

“He is always fighting with me over petty and insignificant issues. He
always beats me up whenever issues arise and these beatings are now
unbearable for me.

“Several times, he was warned by elders in both families to stop beating me, but he refused.”

Fatimah also accused her husband of leaving his responsibilities to her mother, who catered for them.

“My husband also abandoned his responsibility of taking care of me and
my child. He doesn’t buy us clothes and other basic necessities.

She also accused her husband of being jealous and in the habit of accusing her of dating other men.

“My husband is very jealous and because I am beautiful, he is in the
habit of accusing me of dating other men, saying I sell my beauty for
money.

“It’s my mother who has been catering for me and my child,’’ Fatimah said.

She urged the court to dissolve the union, adding that she had already moved out of her matrimonial home.

Responding, Kasim, who did not deny any of the allegations, prayed the
court to give him little time to talk to his wife if she could possibly
change her decision.

“I don’t have much to say to the court because I love my wife, and I
know that she loves me too. We got married because we love each other.

“The court should give us a little time to enable me to approach her and
sort out these issues. I do not consent to her request for a divorce,”
Kasim said.

The judge, Abdullahi Baba, adjourned the matter till September 8 to enable both parties sort out issues.

Rivers DPO Arrested For Ritual Killer’s Escape From Custody

A Divisional Police Officer in Rivers State (name withheld) has been arrested
on the orders of the State Police Command for his alleged involvement
in the escape of one Ifeanyi Dike, who killed an eight-year-old for
alleged money ritual.

A reliable police source disclosed that the DPO, who was arrested on
Monday, was deeply involved in telephone calls between him and Johnbosco
Okoroeze, a dismissed police sergeant, which indicated that there was a
premeditated action by him to allow the suspected ritual killer to
escape.

It was gathered that while preparations were ongoing by both the father
of the deceased, Dr. Ernest Nmezuwuba, and the suspect (Dike) to write
their statements, several calls were received from the said DPO by
Okoroeze.

The top police source said, “We have enough evidence to believe that the
DPO was working hand in hand with the ex-sergeant, who has been
remanded in police custody. The DPO has been arrested.

“Even the father of the girl that was killed had said that there was
communication with the IPO (dismissed sergeant) handling the matter and
somebody that has not been disclosed. This happened while they were
bringing the suspected ritual killer to the State Police Headquarters.

“All these and many more will serve as evidence against the DPO, who we
believe has a lot to explain about his possible involvement in the
escape of Ifeanyi Dike, who killed an eight-year-old boy, ostensibly for
money ritual.”

Ifeanyi Dike had allegedly raped, killed and removed vital organs of an
eight-year-old girl, Victory Chikamso, before escaping from police
custody.

The father of the victim, Nmezuwuba, was at the State Criminal
Investigation Department when the suspected murderer and ritualist
escaped from police custody.

Nmezuwuba added that the suspect was able to escape because one of the
policemen on duty on Saturday night identified as Johnbosco had unlocked
the handcuffs for Dike to write his statement.
