The couple succeeded in breaking a Double Guinness World Record, beating
‘Most ushers to one groom’, previously at 47, and ‘Most bridesmaids to
one bride’, previously 126. It was first time these records have been
attempted together at the same wedding and the first time they had been
attempted in the UK.
Both records have been lodged and approved by The Guinness Book of World Records.Couple Breaks Record With 130 Bridesmaids And 100 Ushers At A Wedding in North Yorkshire. Amy, a 26-year-old bride, and 32 year old Alex, the groom who won the
£110,000 wedding in a competition have set a new world record by
having 130 Bridesmaids And 100 Ushers at their wedding.
They met at a charity event in summer 2014 and started a relationship with plans to tie the knot at the end of 2015.
Amy called for the attendance of girlfriends across the globe while her
TV presenter husband’s groomsmen included rugby players who are also his
friends.

All the items used at the wedding was donated by local companies –
including 130 identical bridesmaid dresses worth £35,000 and suits worth
£13,000.
The couple from Leeds, West Yorks, already have four children between
them from previous relationships and are expecting the first child of
their own.
They saw a competition on Facebook run by bridal shop owner Abbi Lewis,
who was looking to pull off a record-breaking wedding and wanted a
couple to take part.Couple Breaks Record With 130 Bridesmaids And 100 Ushers At A Wedding in North Yorkshire. (Photo Credit: Mirror UK)
The duo initially planned a small wedding, but determined Abbi managed
to blag everything for free and pulled together the massive event in
just five months.
The groom said,
“I wouldn’t say I had to convince Amy but I hadn’t known her long. When we entered the competition we weren’t even engaged.
“We knew we had to take the opportunity.
“There is no way with kids we would have been able to afford this ourselves.
“This had made our dreams come true.
“The fact we can have everyone there is amazing.
Before their record, the most ushers at a wedding was 47, a record set
by Arulanantham Suresh Joachim in September 2003 in Canada.
The most bridesmaids was set in November 2013 in Sri Lanka by Champika Shirani Siriwardana, with 126.
