Fresh bomb explosion averted in Minna

There was stampede
early this morning in Minna, the Niger state capital as people scampered into
different directions following a bomb scare at the Abdulsalam Abubakar motor
park in Tunga community, an outskirt of the state capital.
The scare which threw
the town into great confusion occurred when a shop owner on arriving for
business sighted a black polythene bag and thereafter raised an alarm that
attracted a large crowd to the scene thereby causing a long traffic jam along
the ever busy Bosso road.
When contracted the Niger
state police public relations officer, Pius Edobor while confirming the
incident said contrary to widespread speculations, there was no explosion
anywhere in the ancient town but a discovery of a strange bag by a resident who
quickly alerted the police.
The police boss
however mentioned that the strange bag is in the custody of the police bomb
disposal unit for proper investigation.
