Eid-el-Fitr: FG declares public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, Aug. 20, and
Tuesday, Aug. 21 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitri  or
Sallah celebration.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Anastasia Nwaobia, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
The statement said the Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro, who made
the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, urged Nigerians to
emulate the exemplary attributes of Islam which are “love, tolerance
and peaceful co-existence amongst the people’’.

Olympics end: Nigerian athletes return with no medal

Hehehe! Seriously, this is really shameful...
After seventeen glorious days, the London 2012 Olympic Games ended on Sunday with 26 games, 204countries, and 10, 820 Athletes. United states topped the list by winning 104 medals, followed by China (87 medals) and Britain (65 medals).
The bad news is that Team Nigeria
returned home with no medal, raising questions over the N1.9bn budgeted
for the Nigeria’s participation at the Games.

Our Blessing Okagbare, Christy Udoh, Gloria Asumnu, Oludamola Osayomi, Ajoke Odumosu and
Okagbare did put up a fight but the efforts were not good enough to fetch Nigeria any gold.
