The Department of Mass Communications,
University of Jos, has introduced a dress code for students.
Ms Christiana Best, the Head of the Department
said on Wednesday in Jos, Plateau, that the move is aimed at promoting decency
among the students.
“We want students of mass communication to
look corporate at all times because journalists, as information managers, are
expected to look corporate,” she said. (Yes oh#)
Ms. Best said the department frowns at female
students wearing skimpy dresses, and that she has advised other departments to
introduce dress codes.
“Some male students also appear half naked and
intimidating,” she said, adding that while students are free to appear in
native or English wears, they must be decent.
Ms. Best said that the dress code would make the
students imbibe the culture of appearing decent even after their graduation.
She commended the students for complying with the
code and advised them to imbibe the spirit throughout their lives.
